Yes, there is a Santa
Santa was in Franklin TN on December 3, 2011, at the Kiwanis of Cool Springs and Cool Springs Galleria Christmas Parade. He granted a wish that Martha Stickland that has been making for almost 100 years.
Each year the local Kiwanis club prepares the activities for the Christmas Parade held in Downtown Historic Franklin TN. All the local residents and business are sent an invitation outlining the specific details of participating in the parade as well as the theme of the parade. This year the theme was “A Christmas Wish.” Upon hearing this, Judy Veach from the Legacy Crossing Retirement Community contacted Kiwanis and told them the story of Martha Belle Stickland.
You see Ms Martha had a Christmas Wish that to be in a Christmas Parade. She had been making this wish for many years. Ms Martha turns 98 on December 14. Ms Martha had been practicing her special parade wave for years, and wondered if this might be the year that all that practice would come to use.
Wave she did.
With the help of the folks from Andrews Cadillac who provided the classic caddy convertible and Legacy Crossing who provided the bouquet of roses, Kiwanis of Cool Springs and Santa of course, granted her wish. Ms Martha rode in style and waved to theestimated 20,000 who lined the Franklin streets during the December 3 parade.
