Lewisburg is a beautiful small town nestled in the hills of Southern Middle Tennessee in Marshall County. It’s a place of backyards and front porches where industry meets the farmland; community and culture are neighbors, and tradition and progress are friends. Located less than an hour’s drive from Nashville and an hour’s drive from Huntsville, Alabama, Lewisburg is located right in the heart of Southern Middle Tennessee.
Located in the rolling hills of Middle Tennessee, Lewisburg took its name from the explorer Meriwether Lewis. By 1838, the town was supporting a newspaper and a bank. The downtown area is modeled after many small southern towns, with a courthouse in the center of the square surrounded by retail and commercial businesses. Shopping centers are located on the east and west ends of town.
The area in which Lewisburg and Marshall County was first settled by Revolutionary War veterans given land grants by the State of North Carolina for services rendered during the war.
Until 1925, the community served the area principally as a trading and shipping center for its livestock and farm produce. Today, Lewisburg/Marshall County is the home of several nationally known industries a maintains a viable work force. It is also the World Headquarters of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association.

Lewisburg is located minutes South of Columbia off Interstate 65 is a little more than 11 square miles in size. Lewisburg has a moderate climate, with July being the hottest month and January being the coldest month. March and May are usually the wettest months. It is not uncommon for Lewisburg to have some snow, but it never seems to last long.
Lewisburg, TN Famous Goats Music and More Festival
The Goats, Music and More Festival aims to honor goats, particularly Marshall County’s famous native “Fainting” goat and the Boer goat. Fainting goat and Boer goat shows are the core of the festival; but visitors will also find a full slate of planned fun including and arts & crafts show, food vendors, children’s activities and acoustic, bluegrass, country and rock and roll music.
The Goats, Music and More Festival has been honored by the Southeast Tourism Society as a Top 20 Event for October twice with its unique southern flavor, top-notch free musical entertainment, goat shows that celebrate fainting and Boer goats, barbecue, food of every description, arts and crafts and kids games and activities.
Vendors of all kinds will line the road at Rock Creek Park beginning Friday morning with anything and everything for which a festival could ask. There is always great food, arts and crafts, unique products of all kinds and more.
