As William and Sarah Nolen and their five children were passing through the area that is now the town of Nolensville, they suffered a small but historical accident. Their wagon wheel broke. This turn of fortune’s wheel was the beginning of Nolensville, and the reason for the town logo of a broken wagon wheel.  Unable to continue the trip, William found the land to his liking, rich soil and good hunting. The forest in the area was so thick that Sarah tied cowbells around the children’s neck so they would not get lost, and also so that the children would not be kidnapped by Indians.
